Advantages of using the WFP System

How the WFP system works

The pure water or Water Fed Pole Window Cleaning System is simple in principle. Water straight from the tap is impure. To varying degrees depending on where you are in the world, it’s full of impurities including minerals and sediments. These impurities are the reason why you can’t just hose a window or a car down and leave it to dry, as you’ll end up with spots and streaks all over the place.

A pure water window cleaning system uses (as you’ve probably guessed) pure water, meaning these impurities have been removed. This means that when cleaning a window with pure water, as long as you’ve cleaned and rinsed away any dirt that was already there, you can leave it to dry naturally, 100% spot and streak free.

This pure water usually has to be processed to get it to its pure state. It is then stored in a tank – either static or portable in a vehicle or trailer.

When on site, it is pumped via hosing to one or more operators using telescopic poles of varying sizes, with cleaning brushes on the end. These poles allow window cleaners to reach and clean windows at heights of up to 8m from the ground, without touching a ladder.

The windows are then left to dry naturally and, provided the correct technique has been used, the result is a perfectly clean spot and streak free finish.

But I’ve been told it doesn’t work.

People, ranging from traditional window cleaners to potential customers, have said to me “but it doesn’t work”. So does the water fed pole system actually work?

The pure and simple answer is yes, exceptionally well. But, like any tool or piece of equipment, it has to be used correctly to get the best results.

You can’t give a chisel to someone who isn’t a carpenter and blame the chisel for a bad job.

Yes, contrary to popular belief, there is skill and technique involved in pure water window cleaning, you cant simply rub a window with a wet brush and expect a perfect finish!

Misuse along with misunderstanding of the water fed pole system probably accounts for most of the bad experiences that lead people into the belief that it doesn’t work.

The reality is, water fed pole cleaning is now the defacto method of commercial window cleaning in many parts of the globe, and its domestic use is increasing rapidly

How is the water purified?

Reverse osmosis is used to remove minerals such as magnesium, calcium, chloride etc. to purify the water.

We have tried to cover the most common topics and questions that our commercial clients ask. However, if you have a question that is not answered on this page, or you require further information, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss your query

How does using this commercial window cleaning system save you money?

In the window cleaning industry prices are inflated due to risk, the greater the risk the higher the price, as danger money is then applied. Also the hiring of expensive lifts and using traditional commercial window cleaning techniques that takes 50% or 60% longer inflates prices greatly. Because there is no risk and no high access equipment required, we can pass on these savings to our clients.

Here is an example. The main lobby/entryway is the tallest part of the building. You can’t put a ladder on that glass. There are no tie backs on the roof to make any kind of drops, and whats more is, its only 46 feet to the highest point. There is no need for tie backs on the roof from the builders view and rightly so. So the only option without using a water-fed pole is to get a lift and do it by hand-until now.

How much money will the Water Fed Pole system save us?

In terms of how much is a difficult one to answer as every commercial window washing job is different and has its own problems and complexities. However through past experience and customer feedback, on average, we are saving our clients around 35-40% of their total commercial window cleaning costs, by using this system. This is in comparison with the more conventional methods used before, such as ladders etc.

Is it safe?
Yes. Because the operators work from the safety of the ground and no ladders or other equipment are used.  Window washing has never been safer!

Are the poles heavy and how do you control it so high?

It depends on the material that the pole is made of. Aluminum and Fiber Glass are extremely heavy and very difficult to control at heights over 30 feet. Carbon fiber poles are the lightest and easiest to control at heights of up to 80 feet!

Are any chemicals used during this filtration process?

No. All filters contain natural elements such as salt, resin beads and carbon sediment and are environmentally safe.

Can the water damage or stain my property or building?

No. More damage is caused from pollution in the rain or atmosphere. The water is pure, with no contaminants it. It will not damage or stain your building in any way.
